Your WordPress.com account is not authorized to view the stats of this blog

  • Suddenly, all my blogs (self-hosted .com domains) have this message:

    “Your WordPress.com account is not authorized to view the stats of this blog”

    Stats have been working fine until suddenly today – no more stats.

    This is for blogs where I have upgraded to 3.1 and for some I have not.

    What can I do to fix this?

  • Agreed…..sitting tight statless. Its an eerie feeling not knowing ?? I suspect global issues, so should soon be resolved.

    See, WP Stats was made by Automaticc. JetPack is also released by then, and I’m wondering if in the release of JetPack (which includes an even uber cooler ooking stats page) they’ve gotten rid of WP Stats? Because it would have become redundant? But just as a thing to most out there using WP Stats. JetPack rocks. Well so far anyways…until it goes down too…

    I’m glad I’m not alone in this. I’m having the same problem.

    ok, all this talk about jetpack, had to check it out. It works! Its cool, and it ported all archived stats over so the switch/change was seamless. I recommend checking it out.

    Are you saying that by installing jetpack the stats problem goes away?

    Well not exactly, installing JetPack gives you a updated version of Stats and so you’ll have a small bit of configuring to do, but mostly everything should be okay again. Be sure to get rid of WP Stats. ??

    Are you saying the WPStats plugin must be REMOVED before JetPack can be installed?

    I don’t think that one will have a problem over the other. Example, I don’t think if you install JetPack while WPStats is still there will kill it. I think I did that and it seems to be fine. I’d as a caution recommend to deactivate WPStats before installing JetPack because different servers and installtions could end up reacting differently.

    Worse comes to worse, you can always deactivate JetPack and activate WPStats again.

    So no, doesn’t have to be REMOVED, but I’d recommend DEACTIVATE first. ??

    bump! I have WordPress.com stats installed on about 7 sites so I need this to be working soon…

    …installing jetpack now to see if this fixes the issue for me. Will report back.

    Very well – Jetpack is installed. Configured the Stats option. Similar configuration to WPStats but the display is different.

    I was able to see stats right off the bat.

    SOLUTION:

    1) Deactivate WPStats.
    2) Install JetPack
    3) Configure the Stats option. It will ask you if it is OK to connect to WordPress. Once you answer that question, it configures itself and you can then access Stats from the dashboard.

    Evidently they broke the way WPStats worked. Hope this helps others.

    Yeh It was straight forward plug-n-play, didnt even deactive old version, it just overwrote it. Looks better and like the extended stats like stats for each page/post etc. Very nice

    problem resolved: deactivate WP-stats, install JetPack!

    Why in the hell MUST we auth with WP to get OUR stats in the first place?

    Just logged into our wp-admin and, “Your WordPress.com account, [username] is not authorized to view the stats of this blog.”

    IT IS OUR BLOG AND OUR STATS.. stop this madness and remove the phone home.

    So is there a proper solution to this error yet or what?
