    Hello,

I tried adding some tracking code to a site where the code was prefixed with GTM-. After I did that, I received the following error:

Error: your tracking code begins with GTM- (for Google Tag Manager), which is not supported. Please try again with a supported tracking code.

For now I just added the code manually but I’d like to use the plugin if possible.

Does anyone know what the issue is? Is this newer GA that the plugin doesn’t support yet?

    Thanks much!

Basically GTM is Google Tag Manager, and is not the same thing as Google Analytics (i.e., Universal tracking or Gtag tracking). At this time, the plugin supports only Universal or Gtag tracking. It doesn’t do anything for GTM, although it is on the idea list.

Let me know if I can provide any further infos, glad to help anytime.

Hah this shows my lack of SEO knowledge. The manual route works for me, so I’ll stick with that.

Btw, I love your plugin. It’s the only one I can find that isn’t totally bloated with unnecessary stuff. Keep it up!

    Thanks for the reply, Jeff!
