Your thoughts please!

Hey everyone reading this, hopefully some of you are existing users of the plugin.. ??
You may know that in the past month Search & Filter Pro was released.
As the pro version was built pretty much from the ground up, what has happened (and you may have noticed) is it’s left a bit of a divide in terms of resources. The 2 plugins use separate code bases and therefore managing, improving and maintaining the free version becomes more difficult – as well as a greater priority given to the customers and users of the pro version.
So, moving forward, my thoughts are:
-
upgrade S&F free to use the same codebase as the Pro version, giving users a nice admin UI and ensuring that bugs are fixed and patches are applied more frequently.
OR
- keep them separate and allow for user contributions and development of this, free version of the plugin (this version is available over on github and anyone can contribute to it).
Considering that there have been almost no contributions from users/developers I think its a safe bet to push ahead and go with option (1) – allowing for better stability but with clear defined cutoffs in terms of functionality between free & pro versions…
Anyway, thought I would give any readers of this a chance to voice your opinions before I proceed..
Your thought are welcome!
