I am getting a “Your site’s REST API does not seem to be accessible” message from the plugin. I used the information at https://jetpack.com/support/hosting-faq/ to whitelist Jetpack, but I am still getting the problem… which is weird because I am a Professional plan user with the regular plugin and don’t have an issue with that.

    Hi @tjalexander70

We have released a new update for the Jetpack Boost plugin.

Could you please confirm if you have Jetpack Boost 1.1.0 installed? If not, please update the plugin and let us know if your issue resolved?

I am using Version 1.1.0. Defer Non-Essential Javascript and Lazy Image Loading are turned on. Optimize CSS Loading gives the error “Your site’s REST API does not seem to be accessible.”

    Hello,

Even if the debugger tool reports a healthy connection with your site, the REST API is being blocked on the Jetpack plugin, returning a 403 unauthorized error API calls to this blog has been disabled. The xmlrpc.php endpoint is being blocked at your server’s end.

Can you reach out to your host and ask them if they have any blocks or limits on your XML-RPC.php file?

It’s also worth adding the Jetpack IP addresses to the hosting whitelist. The full IP range can be found at the bottom of this page:

    https://jetpack.com/support/hosting-faq/

We recommend you to contact the hosting support and request to unlock the xmlrpc.php file, after they fix it, flush your browser and site cache and let us know if the issue persists.

I use DreamHost’s DreamPress and believe they do have a partnership with Jetpack. I’m not sure why they would be blocking Jetpack. PLUS, the original Jetpack plugin is not being blocked, as I am a Professional plan user with no issues with that. AND, if you read my original post, I actually referenced that link and did state I whitelisted Jetpack. This really reads more like a generic canned response than addressing my issue.

    Hi there, @tjalexander70,

Apologies if our messages seem to be confused or canned. What we meant is that despite your site is well connected with Jetpack and working fine as expected, there might be chances that the REST API endpoint is still blocked for some reasons.

This could be caused by some IPs whitelisting hiccups (that we ruled out now!) as well as other blocks instances. Such blocks could affect the way the Boost plugin works on the Optimize CSS Loading.

We should be able to pinpoint it by running some tests on the Jetpack connection at our end. Are you happy to post your site URL here, so we can have a look?
    ?
Meanwhile, you may also want to try turning off the Defer Non-Essential Javascript and Lazy Image Loading option and see what happens.

Look forward to your reply, and thanks in advance for your cooperation in sorting that out with us!

    Hi there,

It has been more than one week since we have heard from you, so I’m marking this topic as resolved. But If you have any further questions or need some more help, you’re welcome to reply here or open another thread.

Turning off Defer Non-Essential Javascript and Lazy Image Loading does not change the outcome. Optimize CSS Loading still gives Failed to generate Critical CSS error message.

My site is https://www.mychesco.com/ if you want to run tests.

    Hi @tjalexander70

Could you please check if you have any potential plugin installed that may conflict with Jetpack Boost?

I know it’s less than ideal, but could you please try the following:

Temporarily deactivate all the site’s plugins except for Jetpack Boost and clear your browser’s cache. If the issue is resolved, then we’ll know that another plugin is conflicting here. You can re-enable your plugins one by one until you find the one causing the conflict. You can leave it disabled or reach out to the plugin developer for a fix.

Let me know how it went. If it doesn’t resolve the problem, we will investigate more on your issue.

    (@tjalexander70)

There is no way I am doing that. I know this is the go-to thing developers ask when there is an issue but, in my experience, 99 percent of the time it is a useless endeavor that wastes a ton of my time and causes unnecessary disruption to my site. I have 24 active plugins, not including this one. That is a lot of activating one by one, purging the cache, and trying to turn on Optimize CSS Loading again.

Are there any known issues? Maybe a conflict with Cloudflare? I know with the regular Jetpack plugin I can’t use Cloudflare’s Rocket Loader because of a longstanding issue.

    Hello @tjalexander70

Cloudflare (a CDN and DDoS protection service), could be contributing to this issue.

Could you please try pausing Cloudflare as described here?

    https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/203118044#h_8654c523-e31e-4f40-a3c7-0674336a2753

After you’ve paused it, try again to see if the issue persists.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    My best regards,

    Michelle C.
