Hello! While trying to connect Site Kit I received this initial error:

Your site may not be ready for Site Kit
Looks like you may be using a caching plugin which could interfere with setup. Please deactivate any caching plugins before setting up Site Kit. You may reactivate them once setup has been completed.

After unplugging them, I received this second error:

The necessary verification token could not be found on your site. This may be related to your site using a page caching plugin. Please flush your home page cache and then try again.

My site is currently inactive, activated it and still received the same error. I’ve cleaned my cache from the caching button at the top of the toolbar but I have the same results.

    Thanks for your assistance!

    Hello @abdullahramzan,

Thanks for your assistance. I have submitted the form as requested.

    And my host provider.

    Hello @lecy4 ,

    Thanks for sharing requested information.

By inspecting Site Health information & reviewing your site I can see Maintenance Mode is activated. You need to disable maintenance mode as it requires fully WordPress access to setup Site Kit successfully.

    Hello @abdullahramzan,

To clarify, are you saying my plug-in isn’t working because my site isn’t active?

In my original post, I included that while I activated my site, I still received this specific error message:

“The necessary verification token could not be found on your site. This may be related to your site using a page caching plugin. Please flush your home page cache and then try again.”

I’ve cleaned my cache from the caching button at the top of the toolbar but I have the same results.

If you’d like, I can active it again for you to see this on your end.

    Hello @lecy4 ,

Thanks for getting back to us.

To setup Site Kit you need to fully activate the site otherwise you’ll not see any stats in the dashboard as it’d not work as expected.

Just wanted to confirm are you disabling Coming Soon from Bluehost Settings? By inspecting your Site Health information I can see MonsterInsights plugin installed that does the same. To rule out possible third party conflict can you please setup Site Kit by following below steps:

    1. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    2. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    3. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    4. Attempt to setup Site Kit once more

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

    Hello @abdullahramzan,

Yes, I’m saying that I just “launched” my site, and yet I have the same issue.

I cannot find the plug-in recommended within my plugin search. I’ve also tried deactivating any other plugins that may be in the way, to no avail.

I’ve tried installing Site Kit in incognito, no changes.

Can you please explain to me what the verification token that it seeks is and why it can’t be found although I own the site?

    Hello @lecy4 ,

Thanks for getting back to us.

I cannot find the plug-in recommended within my plugin search. I’ve also tried deactivating any other plugins that may be in the way, to no avail.

To install Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin please go to Plugins > Add New > Type plugin name in Search. Please see screenshot for understanding.

From inspecting your site I noticed both the non secure (http) and secure versions of your site are accessible. Please make sure your site is fully served over https. You may find this option by checking your Site Health status (Tools > Site Health > Status), using a plugin or talking with your host provider.

Can you please explain to me what the verification token that it seeks is and why it can’t be found although I own the site?

The verification token is used to connect (and verify) your domain on the Site Kit service. It’s possible that the token was not found due to your comin soon page – which is active at present, or due to your site being registered as https or http when both versions of your site are accessible.

    Hello @abdullahramzan,

I’ve decided to move away from the Site Kit Plugin all together. After following your suggestions, and yes, my site has been active when I do, nothing has come of it.

I’ve also reached out to my host provider who knows even less about the situation.

This Plugin clearly has more drawbacks if there’s an entire forum dedicated to it and more than half of the concerns aren’t able to be resolved.

    Thanks for trying.

    Hi @lecy4,

Apologies for the late reply here and for all of the trouble that you’ve experienced thus far.

It does look like your site is now fully displaying at https://selfcareisntselfish.com/ (and I love the concept, by the way!), so Site Kit would now be able to connect successfully if you’d like to try again. While your site was previously active at https://selfcareisntselfish.com/, it was displaying a “coming soon” notice. That notice will block the connections that Site Kit needs for setup, which is why setup was not working for you.

If you have any other questions, just let us know. Thank you for giving Site Kit a try!
