I’m running version 4.3.3 and just got this email (error details at the end):

    Howdy!

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, WordPress Zero Spam.

First, visit your website (https://the_domain.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://the_domain.com/wp-login.php) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can’t access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special “recovery mode”. This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

    https://the_domain.com/wp-login.php?action=enter_recovery_mode&rm_token=1DE4Gmtc3DNaeRn6f264K1&rm_key=IPWeimx3pq31xcC4JlIKGd

To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don’t worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 5.4.2
Current theme: The Website (version 1.0)
Current plugin: WordPress Zero Spam (version 4.3.3)
    PHP version 7.3.20

  • I am receiving this error as well.

Sorry to hear that guys. I just released 4.3.5 which should hopefully fix this issue. I was unable to reproduce it, but see that others have complained about a similar issue with the get_plugin_data() function.

Once you update, please let me know if you’re still seeing the error.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I create an issue so the progress can be tracked. Feel free to add your comments there. https://github.com/bmarshall511/wordpress-zero-spam/issues/193
