Last night one of my websites sent me this message:

    “Howdy!

WordPress has a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, wordfence.

First, visit your website (https://rainbowguideservice.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://rainbowguideservice.com/wp-login.php) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can’t access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special “recovery mode”. This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don’t worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 6.3.2
    Active theme: Divi (version 4.23.1)
    Wordfence Version 7.11.0
    PHP version 8.1.25

    Error Details
    =============
An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 90 of the file /www/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/modules/login-security/wordfence-login-security.php. Error message: Uncaught Error: Class “WordfenceLS\Controller_WordfenceLS” not found in /www/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/modules/login-security/wordfence-login-security.php:90

Other than loadding really slowly (it might be the wifi I am on in this coffee shop), it looks to be working as expected.

    Any thoughts?

I thought that the folks at Wordfence might want to see this….

    Thanks

Hi @timstiffler, I appreciate you sharing this with us.

I think if the site is loading successfully now, and there are seemingly no issues with Login Security features such as 2FA or reCAPTCHA (if enabled) this could have been caused during a plugin update.

The plugin version noted is 7.11.0, which was the one released yesterday, but it’s not unheard of for a scan or other operation within your site to attempt loading a function during an update. It’s possible that the file noted above was called upon before it’d updated. Naturally, if we see more reports from other customers or you notice any further problems then we’ll be happy to take a closer look.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
