• The new WordPress 5.2 Site Health has suggested to remove unused themes. I done this now i see the security suggestion:

Your site does not have a default theme. The default themes are automatically used, from WordPress, if something should go wrong with your normal theme.

    This is translated from Italian.
A link open the theme installed but i don’t see a button to set a predefined theme. How i can fix this issue? Is not clear, WordPress is not helping me on fix this as the suggestion is incomplete.

    Thank you.

So i need made a search on Google what is the default Theme and found is called twentythirteen that i removed as for suggestion of the Site Health. Was indicating to remove 3 themes but i was having more than 3 theme unused and did not know whith of this is the default.

You should provide a link to the default theme or suggest what the default theme missing are in the Site Health suggestion.

The default theme is the theme your WordPress install started out with which, with most newer installs, would have been one of the ‘Twenty series’ themes such as Twenty Thirteen.

Twenty Thirteen is one of my favorites. These ‘Twenty series’ themes are well recognized by most WordPress support people and are known to be fairly straight forward and stable.

You don’t actually need a default theme if your working theme is very stable but it’s very handy if you are running a framework based theme or a more dynamic, configurable theme. If you like making changes and trying different themes then having a default theme installed is a very good idea.

If you are running a ‘builder’ type theme editor then I’d recommend a default theme be installed.

If you don’t have a default then a theme from that series can be installed or uploaded via FTP if it is ever needed.

Not having a default theme available is not a really big problem… There are probably thousands (millions? maybe) of websites out here without a default theme.

Removing unused themes and plugins is part of good housekeeping practices so don’t sweat it but you might just reinstall (don’t activate) that Twenty Thirteen in case you ever do need it.

with Twenty Thirteen (and many others) you might find several Child Themes available and there are many great articles about adding features to those themes. You might like using the theme preview and customizer functions to try out ideas and get a look at some alternative views of your website.

I’m finding that the site health recommendation is looking for TwentyNineteen for some reason. Like you, I prefer others. This needs improvement

    – ANY default theme should be acknowledged no matter what the year
    – no default theme should not count against you as “deactivated” either… even if there has more than one.

    In my humble opinion.

    Hi. Same issue.
I have RE-installed the Twenty Thirteen theme, inactive, after WP Tools told me to delete it since it was unused.
But now, how do I set it for ‘Default’…?
    Thanks,
    Josef
