• In the Manage Themes page, after I’ve installed and activated a theme, I try to customize it.

When I click on the “Customize” button, it logs me out of WordPress. It says “Your session has expired. Please log-in again.”

When I log in again, it immediately logs me out. How do I fix the Session Lifetime?

  • Same problem here. Cleared cookies/cache and still have the same issue.

Same issue also comes up when trying to “Live Preview” themes.

But this issue occurs for me on the main WordPress.com dashboard and is not a separate installation elsewhere.

I’m having the same problem here. Tried on multiple browsers, as well. Still same issue. If I customize using the interface from wordpress and not the theme’s interface (if that makes sense) I have no issues, but obviously greatly reduced options for customization.

    Same issue here.

If this is a WordPress.com issue; you need to consult their support.

Otherwise; the usual troubleshooting steps (disable all plugins) apply.

Same problem here on my standalone WordPress installation. I’m not using WordPress.com.

I’m experiencing this issue as well. Has anyone figured out what’s happening, or come up with a solution?

    Have you tried other browser

    I’m trying it now…

Yes, the same exact thing happens in Firefox as well as Safari.

I am also having the same issue. It’s incredibly frustrating.

I had the same issue today as well with all the themes I have downloaded.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

Thanks Jan but after trying all including downloading a clean install I stil get the same issue when trying to live preview a theme, even Twenty Ten. Any other ideas?

I am in the exact same boat. Zero plugins, already using Twenty Eleven and did a clean install as well. I contacted my host provider and they stated it’s a WordPress issue, not on their end. It’s maddening, but I’ve been tolerating it the best I can to get the site running.
