Sorry, I know this subjectline appears in the database many times – but I don’t see one quite like mine.

Everything was fine (and has been for over a year except this). I was editing a document yesterday, pressed ‘save’ then all was gone with the standard MySQL error message for all WP pages.

Simple question, is this a server-side issue (I know they have been doing some updating) or could it be me?

  • It doesn’t sound like you’ve done anything.

I didn’t realize that you were the one who had found an include in your template. That, together with this, sounds very suspicious.

Barring someone else happening along with more information, I would immediately:

    (1) Back up your database if you can do so
    (2) Check your WordPress files to ensure that they haven’t been updated (beyond what you’ve done)
    (3) If nothing on #2, then contact your web host. It’s possible that the web host is upgrading something, and it’s also possible that something else has happened.

What I would *not* do is nothing.

    Thanks Diane.
I’m remote, so can’t do any FTP until I get home tonight. Host customer service is ver slow – still not responded to my mails and ‘ticket’ of yesterday afternoon.

If it’s ‘malicious’ I miss the ‘logic’. The last time I can understand they are trying to drive traffic. But to wipe all views …
    Cheers, Bill

in the other thread I called it malicious because its there and you didnt add it — thats malicious.

It could be a link to nikelodean, the link itself might not be malicious, but if you didnt put it there, it’s malicious that it exists.

And to note, that a similar conversation here came up wherein I said something was not malicious. Again, I differentiate between something thats added maliciously, and what that something is. It was also case where all the facts were not in as to whether or not that something actually existed.

For ‘closure’, it was a server related issue that took my provider almost one week to fix – I have now stopped spitting the feathers. Anyway, no external influence as it turns out.

Since the ‘restart’ I’ve made my first uprgade (I was scared) from 2.04 to 2.2.2 and, amazingly, all went without a hitch.

whooami – clearly the ‘insert’ was malicious, and bringing down a site would be also, but that still doesn’t mean that I, or anyone else can see any logic to it though ??

    Thanks for the responses

    Thanks for the update, Bill.

Sometimes things that happen around the same time are coincidental, but not related. But, until you have the information, you don’t know.

    Glad it worked out well.
