“Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL”

  • I receive the following error message whenever I navigate my web browser to the directory where I installed Word Press.

    “Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL which is required for WordPress.”

    What can I do to fix this? I’ve edited wp-config with the remote database location, my username, my password and my database’s name.

  • Check with your host to make sure they have mysql installed on your account.

    I solved the problem by changing my hosting from Windows to Linux. Thanks for the help Vkaryl.

    RESOLVED: I needed the php4 modules for apache2

    I’m having the same problem, coupled with shoot self in foot syndrom.

    Had working WP installation, ran a aptitude upgrade (debian/Ubuntu package manager). Now WP is broken, or rather the db dependency is broken.

    MySQL is installed, I can login manually with the WP admin credentials. So it seems that the Apache – MySQL connection is broken. Gallery gives the error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect()

    double checking shows the php/mysql package is installed. restarting mysql and apache does not help.

    __bad words__ time to go to work…

    Advice?
