    Hi

Apologies if I’m missing something obvious here.

We had a website created for us a few years back and they set up Contact Form 7 which has work great ever since. Unfortunately it was pointed out to us today that messages aren’t getting through. As far as I can tell the last email to successfully make it was just over a month ago. I don’t know how many we’ve missed since then.

The emails are sent to a gmail account that was created when the website was produced, I’m not sure why they were not just pointed to one of our email addresses here, but it’s never caused a problem before so it was never really addressed.

We have a few forms on the website and none of them are working, the address is https://www.landstorage.co.uk, if anyone could hopefully point me in the right direction that would be massively appreciated.

    Cheers
    Rich

  • i happen to be facing the same issue at https://whiteandhodge.com. If anyone has insight, I would be grateful as well.

By the way, I confirmed with the hosting provider (GoDaddy) that email can be sent from the site via its relay server.

If this confuses the issue for Rich, I can open a separate thread.

Contact Form 7 was not the problem. I called GoDaddy’s Pro support line, and found that they have email server logs available for review by the techs. It turns out the server was choking on variable text (shortcode) in the Subject line. Changing the Subject to static text proved to be the key to getting the email to send(!). This was not a problem for the previous hosting provider(s).

Takayuki, thank you for promptly looking at this, and for pointing me to some useful documentation along the way.

I am having this problem suddenly on several GoDaddy sites, is there something that you can advise to do or it’s GoDaddy that needs to be contacted? Thanks.

    Hi

I’ve managed to sort mine out now. I added the Postman SMTP plugin and sent it up so all of the emails are from our email address. Still not sure what the actual issue was in the first place, but it works now so I’m not complaining!

Contact GoDaddy support. Ask the support tech to run their test scripts, then look at the mail server logs and see why your outgoing emails are failing. I also installed Postman SMTP, but the tech informed me that the variable Subject line was the issue. When I changed that, and added an explicit Sender and Reply-To, email was sent by “[email protected] on behalf of [email protected]”. That was good enough to satisfy the client, I didn’t have the SMTP info for their mail server, and I was running out of time, so I stopped there.

Their support is 24/7, and quality has improved a lot since two years ago. You’ll need your customer # and PIN, of course. If you have Pro support, the techs assigned are consistently pretty darn good at multi-faceted issues, including WordPress.

    Good luck.

Just found out that for about 4 weeks all the people who filled in our forms and got the “successfully sent” message, well the messages never arrived to our inbox.
Whatever the reasoning for this it is unacceptable! We just lost 10-20K in sales. Nothing changed on our end. It just stopped working. This is people filling out our form on our site. These messages should never be disappearing or being killed by email servers. Too many people losing money with this plugin. I’m pissed.
I’m dumping cf7 and getting Gravity Forms on the advice of experts.
