Jetpack 9.9.1 won’t update on my Dashboard from the previous version

    It says on Dashboard

Your installation of Jetpack is incomplete. If you installed Jetpack from GitHub, please refer to this document to set up your development environment.

If I try to delete the plugin it says:

Deletion failed: There has been a critical error on this website.Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.

I called my host and they can’t help with Jetpack – must contact WordPress. They did not see any memory issues on the server

    Please help. Thanks

    Hi @elirab

If you have installed Jetpack from Github, this guide will help you to set up your development environment:

    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/blob/master/docs/development-environment.md#start-development

If you don’t need this type of setup, I would suggest deleting the Jetpack plugin via FTP and then reinstalling Jetpack from your WordPress Admin dashboard.

    Hi Bob
    Thanks for the prompt response.
    Please help me out.
What are the instructions / settings to delete the plugin via FTP.
I have transmit if that helps, but I just need help on how to do it.
I need help on where and how to access the file on my server / host
    Much appreciated.

If you have Transmit, would you be able to delete the /Jetpack/ folder from inside your /wp-content/plugins/ directory? You can do so by accessing your server through FTP access as you mentioned.

Your webhost can assist you with that step if you need additional help on how to do so, and they may even delete that folder for you, depending on the host.

Afterwards, it would be a good idea to make sure that all of your plugins, theme, PHP version, and core of WordPress are all updated before trying to install and activate Jetpack again (your host can also help with all of that since it pertains to their server and environment).

Please let us know the results of this troubleshooting and we can go from there. Thanks!
