• Hi!

I have installed your plugin onto my website, but still I can’t use it. Everytime I get this message:

Your AWS Access Key Id is not registered as an Amazon Associate. Please verify that you are registered as an Amazon Associate in respective locale and you added the email address registered for the Product Advertising API as a secondary email address in your Amazon Associates account.

I read every thread about this problem on the WP forum, but still I haven’t found any solutions. I also tried to contact you at [email protected] and I haven’t received any response from the Amazon Support yet.

I’m registered to the Amazon Associate Program, the Product Advertising API and the AWS Services using the same account and email. I tried to make new Access ID Keys and Secret ID Keys or make inactive the old ones, but still I can’t resolve this problem. Also, I tried to add my primary email as a secondary email, and guess what, it doesn’t work.

Although I use the same account for everything related to Amazon, it keeps saying they’re not linked. I have followed step-by-step your guides but I haven’t gotten nothing useful.

    Can you help me?

  • I guess that you created a distinct user for the API and entered those credentials in the plugin.

However, you must not use a “child” user but instead the root user of your Associates account to create the Access Key. I had the same problem and spent hours digging through amazon’s documentation, until I found a note by the link builder team here on the forum.

    Cheers,

Hi Sascha, thank you for your reply!

I used the same account and email for my Amazon Associates, Amazon API and AWS accounts, not child users. To be more clear, first I logged onto my Amazon Associates account and made my Amazon API account using the same email and password used on Amazon Associates, then I used my API account to register onto AWS and gain my Access Key. I followed exactly what Amazon guidelines said, the account is the same across the three services but the plugin (and Scratchpad) thinks that they’re different.

I’m having the same issue, can’t seem to figure out what I’ve done wrong, it’s super frustrating!!!

I had the exact same issue. I finally went back through all the instructions one by one and found that I missed a step. I don’t think it was called specifically in the plugin but after you follow the steps to “Becoming an Associate” you need to then follow the steps for “Becoming a Product Advertising API Developer”. (https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSECommerceService/latest/DG/becomingDev.html) After I followed these instructions I was given a new access id & key which I added to the plugin settings and everything worked! Good luck, I hope this helps anyone else having the same problem, and I really think Amazon should make these steps a little more clear and easy to understand.

    Hello everyone

After a month from my post I haven’t found any solutions yet. Neither from Amazon Support or other people’s comments. I guess we’re all in the same boat… :/

THANK YOU @psyon001 8 hours of my life wasted!!

I was confusing the AWS key with step 2 API code.
