Your Attempt To Edit This Page Has Failed?!

  • Alright I am running WordPress 2.8.2 for starters.

    I noticed last night that when I go to create a new Page on my site that no matter what the content, as soon as I hit Publish I get the message:

    Your attempt to edit this page: “Extras” has failed.

    It gives the page a permalink address as well as let’s me title it, but it does not let me save any information on the actual page itself.

    I can still edit other existing pages information and I can Preview the page I am trying to create, but that is about it.

    Any ideas?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems.

    I switched to the default theme and I also deactivated all of the plugins and tried it with no plugins running. I still get the same message.

    I’m baffled. Is is a database issue now?? I upgraded to 2.8.3 as well and the issue still exists.

    Also I noticed that I cannot create posts either. I can create Drafts, but as soon as I go to publish them… I get the same message telling me that my attempt the edit the post has failed.

    Also creating a new member with admin rights did not work either…

    Going to try a backup of the database and a fresh install… suggested from a guy on Twitter since I’m not getting support here…

    No Bushwhack, it would seem that we are not. I’m getting this issue now, did you find any solutions?

    Access you database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel), check all of the tables, and choose “Repair tables” from the pull-down menu.
