  • Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out. I went ahead and tested the form on that page and filled out all of the fields (including the address field) and was able to get the success message. When you test your form filling in all the fields, do you see the same error as well?

One thing I did notice is that the address field does not have the asterisk (*) that denotes that it’s required. Perhaps that user skipped over that field thinking it was not required. Did that user mention filling in the address field?

Please feel free to reach back out if you have any other questions or concerns, or if you’re still seeing issues there. I’m always happy to help out.

I may have made the situation worse. I changed the mmerge tags to see if changing the number helped….and now all the address field for that list are gone…Please help.

I have also logged out and back in WP setteings

    Hey again,

I tested out your form a couple more times, and it looks like it successfully submits when I fill out all of the fields, as well as when I fill out all of the fields except for the address fields. It looks like that address field is currently not required and everything is good to go, but if you’re still seeing issues with that form, feel free to reach out one more time with:

    1. Which fields you’re filling out
    2. What you’re expecting to occur
    3. What is occurring (screenshots are helpful as well)
    4. A link to your MailChimp hosted signup form

It also sounds like you’re actively modifying your form fields in MailChimp. If you’re still seeing issues with your form settings from inside MailChimp, it would be best to reach out to MailChimp Support directly. Paid accounts can get in touch through the in-app “Help” feature in the top right corner while logged in. Just go to the bottom of any article from there and you should see an option to contact Support.

    Hello,

You were able to submit because I was not requiring you to fill in the address. The address field is the only field that when required gives the user the error.

I have to not require that because otherwise people are not able to sign up at all.

But Now people are signing up and I don’t have their mailing address

I can require all fields for 24 hr so you can test again and see its not working. But then Ill need to change it back to not required otherwise I get emails saying its broken.

    1. I’m filling out all fields.
    2. I expect the user to fill out all required fields and be able to submit.

    here is a screen shot:

Here is a direct link to MC signup form. It works fine.

I do not have paid MC support.

The error is only for those that fill out the form on the hosted WP site.

Are you willing to chime in again before I switch this address field back to not required?

    https://franklinmanorcommunity.org/news-alert/

    Still not working.

It worked for several years and now all of a sudden this? whats the issue here Mailchimp or WordPress upgrade???

    Hey Chap —

Just wanted to let you know that I think we’ve got a fix in place for this. We’re testing it out right now to make sure it doesn’t break anything else in the process.

Thanks for all of the information you provided!

I should probably add, you’re better off setting that field as “not required” until the update is pushed out.

Fantastic. Your update will allow me to sleep tonight:)
    Many thanks.

    Pushed the update this afternoon.

Please feel free to reopen this ticket if you are still seeing issues after updating!

Is this a wordpress update or a Mailchimp update?

Ok. Just updated. Seems to be working!!! Many thanks.

Question: Is it necessary to have the end user confirm email before being added to the list? I don’t remember this before?

    Hey again Chap —

It has always been a double opt-in process. There is a way you can modify that in the source code, but you’ll need to really get in there and dig around. Any change made locally will also be destroyed when the plugin is updated again (whenever that is).

That said, happy to add that as a feature request for the future!
