• At the bottom of each of my book reviews, there is a heading: YOU MAY ALSO LIKE, but I can’t find how or where that is populated. It is blank on all my reviews. Is that something I’m just missing the input for (though I’ve looked through the plugin)? Thank you for any directions/help you can give me on this.

    Hello @rfulleman

That section on your website is a feature of the theme you’re using. I took a look at the theme’s code to understand how it works.

To get it working, go to the Recencio settings page, then the taxonomies tab, then enable “Default WP Taxonomy”, then save the settings. You’ll now have the default WordPress “categories” and “tags” option when editing/creating reviews. Create a new “Review” category and assign all your reviews to the category.

    This should fix things.

Thank you for your time looking into this. On the taxonomies tab, the Default WP Taxonomy was checked (enabled). I’ve unchecked it, updated, and then checked the box and updated it again. I did add the Review category and there are two books in a series that I made sure both had the same tags and genres listed. I thought perhaps the section on the page “YOU MAY ALSO LIKE” might be looking for similar listings to show similar books, but that still did not make the other book populate in that field on the page.

So, I’m not sure what to do next. I wouldn’t mind removing that section so it does n’t just show up empty on each review, but would prefer to be able to populate it. Any other suggestions? Thanks again.

The theme is looking for all categories (not tags or custom taxonomies) attached to a post/review, then it selects the first category it finds. It does not select a specific category just the first category it receives. It then selects 3 posts in the same category to use for that section.

Also, the plugin does check to see if the YARPP plugin is installed. If so, it will use that plugin to get the related posts, if not it uses its own functions which I’ve outlined above.

So installing the YARPP plugin another way to get this section to work.

Again, thank you for your time on this. I did install the YARPP pluggin and it is working more to what I had hoped, though it still has two related problems: 1) the icons in the “Books you may like” section are not pulling the images from the book reviews, but rather use a generic image. And, 2) the “Books you may like” is duplicated on the page. I’m not sure where that is being populated that it would be there twice. Thank you for getting me this far.

Let me have a minute to look at this. Are you using the free or paid version of the Polestar theme?

Please, take your time. I am using the free version of the Polestar theme.
