You don’t have permission to do that – FF error – tried all the fixes

What issue? Permission to do what? In Firefox not IE?

I cannot edit categories. I cannot delete comments unless I am in mass edit mode. I cannot add a category. This only happens in Firefox, not in IE. This has been an ongoing issue since 2006 – I have searched Google for days and tried every single fix I could find.

why is an error that affects one browser, and pockets of users, an issue with for WP to fix?

99.9999% of these so called WP problems are better identified as user problems.

The fact is that if you can do something in one browser, but cannot in another, its a browser or user problem, NOT a wp problem

I use FF, I have a brand new install of 2.3.3. I can do everything.

I have a brand new install of bleeding, I can do everything.

Thousands of people do not have these mysterious problems.

As more and more servers start to implement the security features of Suhosin, this will escalate into more users being affected.

“mysterious” problem? Google this issue and see how far back it originates.

wolfgrrl: This is indeed a browser/user issue as whooami suggests, but your point about how different hosting companies implement security is valid as well. For example, I currently cannot login to WordPress using Firefox, but IE, Safari and Opera are fine. This is a Firefox problem. Plain and simple.

The compromise is to use Opera (which is what I’ve done) rather than dealing with IE. But, whooami’s point that this affects a very small percentage of users is right on.

This is not a WordPress problem, sorry.

I’m a relatively new user of the WordPress blogging platform, and I must say from my own “user experience” to date, I’m also experiencing problems which have been identified as being specifically related to using the I E 7 browser when attempting, or making certain changes in the WP admin panel.

The adding and/or deleting of categories spring to mind, plus a few other niggles.

However, I did rectify the said problems by accessing my admin panel using the firefox browser, so I have to agree with whooami’s comment.

What I can’t understand is, “why all these niggly, time consuming issues when using different browsers to firefox??? It’s totally frustrating, especially to anyone who is trying to get to grips with this whole WP thing.

By the way (before I forget), if your’e looking in whooami. What do you mean by “I have a brand new install of bleeding, I can do everything”

What exactly does “bleeding” do? And, if it is of any significance, would you kindly elaborate.

Join the fun. Setup XAMPP on your pc, grab the latest WP nightly build and join the wp-testers mailing list. The more people bug hunting the better. ??

Thats akin to suggesting that WordPress ought to be made to “play nice” with mod_security.

Server configurations, like browser configurations are up to the user(s) to adjust/fix — not the developers to accommodate for all possible scenarios.

thelazygeisha, thanks for the link. Well that certainly explains what “bleeding” is all about. I think I’ll just stick to the more conventional type of nose bleed.

LenK, thanks for the invite, but no thanks. The only form of bug hunting I participate in, is whenever my wife, or daughter needs me to retrieve, and then immediately eject any spiders that decide to take temporary residence in our home.
