• Okay, this may be a duplicate post. I may have posted this previously but on the wrong forum. I’m trying to use the Press This Reloaded Plugin. When I do this 9 times out of 10 I get the error message above in the Topic Title. I have since discovered through trial and error that there are some sites that this plugin works properly on, but most of the time it fails miserably. Since my last post, I have made a permissions change on the file post-new.php, giving the user account execute permissions (744 from 644). This has made no difference. Completely stymied and somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer number of posts about this problem. Apparently this is also causing me some difficulty on the WordPress support forums, as there seems to be a limitation on how many words or characters the search feature will return. So even though my problem is specific to post-new.php, when I search for my own post on-line I’m nowhere near the top, and don’t even see it, which is why I’m unsure if I posted on the correct forum. My profile shows my question, and from there it looks like I posted correctly, but as of yet I have gotten no response. Strictly speaking, not mandatory that I use this plugin, but as new WordPress end user, it sure seems like one of the more useful plugins to have.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Steve,

Can you access WP-Admin -> Posts -> Add New ?

If so, I suggest re-adding the bookmarklet, from WP-Admin -> Tools.

Okay, looks like I can. Just added a test post to my site – got no errors. Now the next step, following your suggestion, would appear to be to uninstall the plugin and then reinstall.

    – Okay, uninstalled.

(OMG – You’re the author of the Plugin!)

    – Okay, Successfully installed the plugin Press This Reloaded 1.0.2.

Tried it. Still the same problem. One site I went to it works, everything else tested fails with the exact same permissions error.

    Thanks!

Okay, as a follow up, also tried reloading or resetting the plugin by going to Tools in the Admin page and then redoing the bookmark. This made no difference either. I am no going to do a test to see if the regular Press This plugin works.

    Thanks!

Okay, good news – bad news, I guess. The regular Press This does not work either. Even tested this out on another browser just in case one of my Firefox add-ons was causing this difficulty.

Nope, fails just as miserably under IE with no add-ons.

Now I’m going to follow up on Esmi’s advice to see if there is a conflict or compatibility issue with one of my other plugins.

    Thanks!

No conflict. All Plugins disabled – still getting the same error using either Press This, or Press This Reloaded.

    Thanks!

I think this has something to do with your server configuration. Maybe you have some faulty rules in your .htaccess file.

Please please help. Here is the error message I receive after clicking on press this reloaded or press this..

You don’t have permission to access /blog/wp-admin/post-new.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have unstalled and reinstalled twice. I tried removing my plugins too.

    I TRULY appreciate any help…
    Thanks
    Debbie
