you are using an insecure browser

  • WP ver 4.4.2 on Win 10, Internet Explorer 11

    Just started getting this message:
    It looks like you’re using an insecure version of Internet Explorer. Using an outdated browser makes your computer unsafe. For the best WordPress experience, please update your browser.

    This is the latest version of IE – that came with Windows 10.

    I’ve hunted the forums about this but haven’t found anything recent.

    Thanks to anyone who knows why I’d get this!

    I am having the same problem on Windows Server 2012 R2.

    Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.18205
    Update Version: 11.0.28

    A quick reply here but I believe for my case it’s simply due to the WP being hosted on a Intranet where IE is configured to display using document mode 7 for Intranet sites. Removing Compatibility mode will render the site appropriately.

    Perhaps the WP notice could have suggested this possibility. That would be awesome.

    On the side I don’t know whether WP can include the relevant meta tag so that Compatibility mode IE setting remains?
