    Hello ! i keep getting errors while backing up to my Dropbox account on my computer ( Mac OS 12.7.6)

    At the beginning i thought it was a problem with my provider (Dreamhost) but we went over every possible cause and finally discovered in the log file:

    ” 19736.883 (9) Dropbox: error when trying to gain access: You are not authenticated with Dropbox (line: 211, file: /home/phibid/mylittlehomeinparis.com/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/methods/dropbox.php) “

    Then i went to the Plugin page in the Dashboard to reauthenticate and it worked again BUT this morning i found out that the last backup was not completed due to the same reason !!!

    I have been using your plugin for more than ten years without any problem and i thank you for that; although i cannot help thinking that a recent update has compromised the stability of the authentification process.

    Hi Philippe,

    Could you please provide the log file using PasteBin or a similar service?
    This may contain other clues as to why the authentication has problems.

    I have recently seen one other example of this on another request here:

    I’ve yet to get a response to that request so I’m unsure if there’s an issue.
    I will certainly contact developers if we identify an issue with the update.

    Thank you for the log files too, they gave me some useful information which may help.
    It’s tricky as there’s no specific reason given for the authentication to be disconnected.

    What I did notice is you may be close to, or even over, the Dropbox storage allowance:
    0218.534 (0) Saving backup history. Total backup size: 819.4 MB
    0218.892 (0) Dropbox: quota usage: used=1633.6 MB, total=2304 MB, available=670.4 MB

    Presently, the only cause I can think of for the problem is exceeding the storage space.
    This may mean Dropbox stops any further uploads until there is enough space for them.

    Did you receive any notifications from Dropbox that you have exceeded storage quota?
    I’m afraid this is my best idea at the moment as there’s not a lot of information to go on.

    Normally I would expect to see a clear ‘storage quota exceeded’ message in the log file.
    It would also be a good idea to ask Dropbox if they can explain the authentication issue.

    You could provide them with this info: 0080.840 (0) Dropbox: Curl error: error code: 1106
    Research suggests this is a code associated with an IP address being actively locked out.

    i tried to change my Dropbox password and reauthenticate, it worked once and that’s it !

    I receive this message on my WordPress dashboard, maybe it could lead to a way of resolving the problem:

    I have to say it has happened over the years that one backup was not deleted and i exceeded my quota but i have always managed to solve the issue.

    This is the first time this this problem happens in 6 years of using the plugin and that’s why i am convinced something went wrong with an update of the plugin.

    Hi Philippe,

    Thank you, I’m happy to help and would really like to find a solution for this issue.

    It would definitely be a good idea to visit the linked url to unblock your IP address.
    As the error code suggests a block, eliminating any potential causes is a good idea.

    I’d also recommend updating to the latest plugin release if you have yet done this.
    We released an update last Saturday and it’s better to troubleshoot with the latest.

    A couple of other users on the forum also reported a Dropbox issue very recently.
    To eliminate the possibility of an issue with Dropbox they were due to contact them.

    I haven’t yet received any feedback to confirm there’s no issue known with Dropbox.
    If unblocking your IP doesn’t help it would be a good idea to check Dropbox support.

    Providing them with the error code may help us to understand the problem better.

    Dear Nick,

    just for your information, since the last update of the plugin (some days ago) everything is working like it used to.

    i definitely think it was a bug in the previous update that led to this insolvable situation.

    As for the blocked IP thing, the link led to nothing that could help or resolve the situation, i guess for the same reason.

    UpdraftPlus WordPress backup is complete.

    Backup contains: Files and database (Full backup)

    Latest status: The backup attempt has finished, apparently unsuccessfully

    To solve the problem i have to go to Settings, unclick the Dropbox choice, reclick on it, go to the Save settings and do the whole authentification process again.

    Then i can start a new Backup which is successful

    It has worked faultlessly since 2018, what did you change in the code about Dropbox authentification since ?

    The “hacked website ” idea has nothing to do with the problem in my opinion, its just an automated message
