The one thing that was most difficult was getting the divs to lay next to each other, as opposed to on top of each other– as soon as I was able to get it to sit right in one browser, it threw another one off. So I had to settle for sizing the divs.

Just want to be clear, when you say call a function of PHP, what is that? Look, what I know about PHP is basically an offence. I shouldn’t be posting in ANY forum.

Fact is I really would like to view the HTML (if it exists within the substrata) so that I can more easily identify what the CSS speak to. I’m now actually using Firebug browser extension to seek out where the divs sit but they seem to be particularly well hidden or narrow and overlapping.

Well you can call the function directly and say “get sidebar” but even when I wrote a function for each sidebar it wouldn’t do it– I had to literally copy and paste all the code within the function of “get sidebar” into the main code for it to work. Every time I tried to simply say “get sidebar” it would give me an error.

I should also note that within this CSS– I changed the look of the navigation menus. So if you want to retain the original look, don’t copy that part!

In this case I require its responsive capabilities to be in good order though. Will keep looking.

Q: if I need to PHP, what bits should I have to change?

Needless to say, if one could position the sidebars on either side of the main area for a particular screen width, one must also specify the other positions (correct me if I’m wrong) inside:

You just need to adjust this CSS in style.css to fix either problem:

100% of #main is divided up into content and secondary. If you want the middle column to move to the left, simply change the #content to float: right. If you want it to disappear, make sure you have no widgets loaded in Sidebar 1 and adjust the #secondary and #content percentages until you get the look you desire. It should still be responsive. However, I haven’t tested it.
