    Hi ,
We are using Yoast SEO Plugin for XML sitemap. Our XML sitemap submitted in Google search console and the sitemap status is a success, but our Coverage report shows “Indexed, Not submitted in Sitemap“.

    As an additional info,
    1.Our XML sitemaps URL:https://scgroup.global/sitemap_index.xml
    2.We have enabled Yoast sitemap.
3.We have Sucuri website Firewall (WAF) for our website.
    4.Disabled the website firewall cache.

Can anyone help to fix this issue?

We understand that your Google Search Console report is showing “Indexed, Not submitted in Sitemap“. To confirm, could you please show us some example URLs where the issue occurs so that we can take a look at them?

    @ganapathy11 Thanks for your reply.

We understand you are receiving the following error when you submit your XML Sitemap in Google Search Console: “Indexed, Not submitted in Sitemap“.

Can you please confirm that you submitted only the <code>sitemap_index.xml</code> URL in Google Search Console? If you submitted both <code>post-sitemap.xml</code> and <code>sitemap_index.xml</code>, we suggest that you delete all the sitemaps, clear all caches on your website, then resubmit only the <code>sitemap_index.xml</code> URL.
    ?
?Also, we checked on your <a href="https://scgroup.global/robots.txt" rel="noopener" target="_blank">site's robots.txt file</a> and see that you have the following directives specifying the location of the sitemap:
    ??

    Sitemap: https://scgroup.global/post-sitemap.xml
    Sitemap: https://scgroup.global/page-sitemap.xml
    Sitemap: https://scgroup.global/sitemap_index.xml`
    ?
?We would also recommend removing these completely, or replacing them with a single directive specifying only the main sitemap as in the following example:
    ??
    Sitemap: https://scgroup.global/sitemap_index.xml

Also, please check that you are submitting the sitemap index located at https://scgroup.global/sitemap_index.xml and that the verified property on Google Search Console that you are submitting the sitemap on is the HTTPS version of the site.

?Can you please try the aforementioned suggestions and let us know whether this resolves the warning?

    Thanks @devnihil
As per your suggestions, we have deleted all the sitemaps, cleared all caches on our website, then resubmitted our XML sitemap URL – https://scgroup.global/sitemap_index.xml in Google search console tool.

Please see the screenshot link ( We have resubmitted the sitemap on is the HTTPS version of our site.) – https://snipboard.io/rAubsn.jpg

Also, we have updated the Robots.txt file. Please check this – https://scgroup.global/robots.txt

I will let you know the status whether this resolves the warning or not.

Per your screenshot, the sitemap_index.xml you have submitted looks fine this time. In addition, the crawl rules available on robots.txt look correct as well. So, everything should work fine as expected but may take a little while.

@mazedulislamkhan The warning is not resolved yet.

    Hi @ganapathy11

We recommend you contact the Google Webmasters Community forum for further assistance, as we can confirm that the sitemap and robots.txt file generated by the Yoast SEO plugin is working as expected.

Please also do note that the status of ‘indexed, not submitted in sitemap’ isn’t necessarily an issue. This just means that Google was able to crawl and locate that particular URL by other means, not just from the sitemap, but that isn’t an issue in of itself, as it means it is still a ‘valid’ URL for indexing – https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203/

Sure, Will contact the Google Webmasters Community forum for further assistance.

Yes, I do understand that it is still a ‘valid’ URL for indexing. But needs to be resolved the “Not submitted in Sitemap” warning.

Googlebot hasn’t found our website urls via the Yoast XML sitemap. So, is this yoast blocked by our Website firewall?

    (@mazedulislamkhan)

We can confirm that Yoast SEO cannot block when it comes to the website firewall. So, we are unable to confirm why exactly Google Search Console is showing you the relevant error even though Yoast SEO is generating the XML sitemap correctly as expected.

At this point, you’ll need to reach out to the Google Webmaster Team for further assistance on this as we can confirm that our plugin is working as it should.
