Yoast XML Sitemap – Homepage URL missing trailing slash
-
My understanding is that Yoast automatically adds a trailing slash to the canonical for our blog homepage (FYI – we are using a posts page as the homepage).
However, it does not add the trailing slash to the xml sitemap that it generates. It’s not proper or effective SEO to submit URLS that redirect.
I was going to edit the Site or WordPress Address URLs to include the trailing slash, but WordPress’ own documentation reads, “Note: Both settings…should not have a slash “/” at the end.”
This inconsistency causes Google to exclude the non-slash page and generates errors in site audits (e.g. AHREFS).
How can I correct this Yoast error?
