Yoast WP SEO Settings

With the plugin active, I am in a category page and asking as to the maximum number of characters allowed for “SEO Description” area. This page isn’t elevating much and I have tagged my images, given images actual keyword names and SEO’d the page in other ways. However the sitemap has been submitted (Feb. 6) to Google Webmaster Tools and am wondering why this and other pages seem to be slow in elevating….as all appropriate re-directs have also been taken care of prior to re-launch and submitting the sitemap. Any suggestions / constructive criticism appreciated . . . .
PS: As I am in the editing page of that part of the plugin for “category” pages, take note, I do NOT mean the top description box (below slug & parent)….I mean the description box just underneath “SEO Title” and above “Canonical” <—-there are two description boxes and I mean the second one…thank you
