What I’m Using:
Wordpress 4.1.1
WP SEO: 2.0

As you can see, the above URL includes some stop words such as “into” and “and.” Other possible stop words include “new” and “from.” However, they were not removed by WordPress SEO.

I checked the settings under Advanced > Permalinks and “Remove stop words from slugs” is checkmarked. Nevertheless, there are stop words in the URL slug.

I tried disabling all other plugins and the stop words are still not removed. I tried changing themes to the default Twenty Fifteen theme and still no change. Thus, I’ve eliminated plugin and theme conflicts.

Please help.

I seem to have the same issue with stop words not being removed from slugs.

For instance,

I have checked that the setting is correctly chosen.

Running WordPress 4.1.1, WP SEO 2.0.1

Having the same issue. Not sure why, just started happening recently. I couldn’t go back and edit them after noticing either because the post had already gotten social shares and what not. =/

Same here. Stopword removal must have stopped working weeks ago and I′m still running 1.7.4 on WP 4.1.1

Has Yoast acknowledged this at all? Seems like a small issue, so hopefully a quick fix is on the way.

While Yoast hasn’t responded on here, it seems the updated version (I’m now running 2.1.1) has resolved this issue.

The solution: upgrade to the latest version.

I am also having this issue:

WP: 4.2.1
SEO: 2.1.1

Same problem i added a set of words to the array i didn’t want there, the plugin ignores them.

i have the same problem. I find a process to get it work …
1. create page and click publish
2. remove the slug, without click OK, and click publish
normally, you got your slug without stopwords

wordpress: 4.3
yoast seo: 2.3.4
