    Hello,

On our custom taxonomy “regions” we have the default description (as a short intro description) and we have an ACF field for the “long description”.

The short description shows in the hero area, the long description shows after the posts.

Yoast is only counting the word count of the default description.

Is there a way to tell Yoast to count the current default description content AND the ACF custom field?

    Thanks

    Hello @one3rdnerd

Thanks for reaching out about the issue where Yoast SEO is only counting words in the default description. We have not received such reports so we’d like to reproduce this. Can you share detailed steps to replicate what you reported?

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Hello,

    Sure.

Create a custom taxonomy called (Regions)

Add an ACF WYSIWYG field to this taxonomy called “Long Description”

Create a taxonomy term called “California”

Put 50 words in the default description field

Put 250 words in the new Long Description field.

Review Yoast Analysis and it only sees 50 words and tells you to increase the length so it’s not analysing the content added to the long description.

    Please advise.

    Thanks

    Hello @one3rdnerd

Thanks for providing more information. I see that the Yoast SEO content analysis could not detect the content you added to your custom field, Long Description. You need to install the ACF Content Analysis for Yoast SEO plugin that ensures that Yoast SEO analyses all ACF content including Flexible Content and Repeaters.

Do let me know how it goes.

    Hello,

Thank you, that’s perfect. I did see that plugin but didn’t think it was an official Yoast plugin (didn’t notice team Yoast are also under authors, I only saw the other names).
