• Unfortunately, the Yoast plugin slows everything down when enabled. The admin dashboard is slow and so is the front end. It seems that the plugin causes MySQL to spike and everything becomes painfully slow and sluggish.

Once the Yoast plugin is disabled, everything works fine with an average load speed of 1.5s (seconds) – 500ms (milliseconds), as opposed to 30s (seconds) when the Yoast plugin is enabled.

For now, the Yoast plugin will remain disabled until the author of this plugin reduces its effect on the loading speed.

Test your website speed when Yoast enabled & disabled and you will see the a huge difference.

  • HI @jacksmithy,

    Thanks for your review.

We are sorry to hear your WordPress dashboard becomes slow when Yoast SEO is active. I can imagine how concerning it’s when that happens.

The problem you reported is unexpected, so we’d appreciate it if you could create a new topic in the plugin forum so that our support team can look further into the issue. Please, include as much information as you can in the forum topic, i.e. Yoast SEO and WordPress versions, when the problem started to occur, whether the problem also occurs when all non-Yoast plugins are deactivated and you’re using a default WordPress theme (this article explains how to check for conflicts), etc.

    Thanks!
