For some reason regular users have access to Yoast in the top bar when logged in. On my other site with the same setup they have not. So obviously something is very wrong here.

I tried to delete the text in wp_user_roles in the database and replace it with the text from my working site and it seemed to have done the trick. But after a few hours its back to the same again.

    Please advise?

I tried everything now, even tried resetting user roles with a plugin but it makes no difference at all.

So I’m guessing this must be something directly connected to the plugin itself and not something general in user roles. Is it possible to set permission somehow for subscribers in this plugin in the database or something?

Subscribers can see the Yoast widget when they go to the dashboard + they can see it in the top admin bar, something I dont want and I have no idea how it happened. On my other site Yoast is not visable to subscribers.

    Hi,

It’s possible you have the Yoast admin bar disabled if you aren’t able to see the Yoast logo in the top bar.

Can you please check if you go to your WP Dashboard > SEO > Dashboard > Features tab, and see that the Admin bar menu is enabled?

Hm, I think you may have misunderstood. The problem is that regular users see the Yoast plugin in the top bar when logged in. I see no reason they should be able to see this. On my other site they dont, so what have I done wrong on this particular site?

Actually I noticed it on another site too when signing up to that site and going to the wp user panel, so it’s not isolated to my page only.

Well, I just wrote that I noticed the same thing on a completely different site so NO, it is not only specific to my site. Clearly you may have a security issue.

By default, the Yoast icon does not appear in the admin bar for subscribers. We have confirmed this behavior in multiple default test environments. Therefore, something in your setup is modifying the default behavior.

Please provide the answers to the following:

    1. Have you performed a conflict check? If not, please do so. Did you discover a conflict?
    2. Does the issue occur when using a default theme with only Yoast SEO active?
    3. Does the issue occur with the current version of Yoast SEO?
    4. ‘Read’ is the default capability for subscribers. Does your subscriber role have additional capabilities?
