Seems like everytime there is a Yoast update like the one yesterday and the one before that it caused all posts to be 404. When i resave the permalinks it works fine.

Is there a way to fix this?

@rbennett We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

We attempted to replicate this error on a site and upgrading from 19.5.1 to 19.6 didn’t result in any pages/posts returning a 404.

Can you confirm that this was the update to 19.6 that caused this issue? Also, does the issue still occur with only a default theme such as TwentyTwenty and Yoast SEO active?

We’d recommend to test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

Thanks. The last yoast update and yesterday’s yoast update caused 404s.

This was NOT on one site – on several different sites. Here are two sites that the yoast update caused 404s until i resaved permalinks.

    Hey @rbennett,

    Thanks for your reply.

It’s odd that this happens on your 2 sites, we’ve tested this in a few local(LocalWP) and online(InstaWP) instances, but can’t reproduce. Are there similarities between the 2 sites you had this issue on? Same hosting environment or specific settings to your permalinks, or a plugin you use to manage permalinks for example? It’s hard to pinpoint where the issue lies though, as we haven’t heard other users having similar experiences in other support tickets.

Have you had similar issues with other plugin updates?

Sorry i missed your last response. It happened again today on one of the sites above but not the other

Checked to see if it was aplugin conflict but it was the only plugin that was updated on her site.

@jeroenrotty I’ve experienced this issue on a few of my sites as well and it didn’t just happen with that one Yoast update. It has happened with multiple Yoast updates and several sites as well – for example, fernandmaple.com and shesaved.com. It just happened to shesaved.com on the latest update from 19.12 to 19.13. Re-saving permalinks fixes it every time but it has happened, but the only commonality between the sites of when this happens is a Yoast update. Most of the sites I’ve noticed this on are Genesis themes, but not every single one. I can assure you that I know of other people with this problem as well.
