    I have read the other existing articles about this, and despite having confirmed that the theme declares “title-tag” support and there is only one <title> tag in the source code, there is no force rewrite option that comes up in settings, and I am still having this issue with a couple of pages under certain conditions.

    When I share the link for the home page (https://ecrmusicgroup.com) or the about page (https://ecrmusicgroup.com/about/) in a text message, the page title is rewritten from “ECR Music Group | NYC” to “NYC.” For a lot of artist subpages, it changes from “Blake Morgan – ECR Music Group | NYC” to “Blake Morgan” (https://ecrmusicgroup.com/artists/blake-morgan/).

    I have scraped these pages at Facebook sharing debugger, and all of the correct metadata comes up. Even Google Search gets it right. It’s just text messages. These are important, as we share a lot of these for business purposes in text messages. This has never been a problem before. Any ideas on what’s going on?

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @dcbuffalo

    Thanks for using the Yoast SEO plugin. When you mention text messages, I assume you are referring to sending through iMessage. I tested what you described and could replicate it.

    According to this documentation, iMessage uses the Open Graph protocol for shared URL preview as Facebook. When you configure the Facebook sharing settings for a post or a page on your site, you’re configuring the Open Graph settings, and what you see on Facebook should be the same thing you see on iMessage.

    For instance, https://ecrmusicgroup.com/artists/blake-morgan/ has the correct og:title in the page source and?Facebook sharing debugger. But it’s different in iMessage though the necessary meta tags required by iMessage are present:

    <meta property="og:title" content="Blake Morgan - ECR Music Group | NYC" />

    Though it works fine on Facebook, it’s unclear why the og:title is incorrect when shared on iMessage. You may consider reaching out to their support.

    I think I now understand what may be happening.

    We discovered that Androids and PCs (not just Apple devices) are having the same problem, but displaying even different metadata than iPhones and Macs.

    From what I have gathered from numerous support chats and articles, text/SMS message programs and email client programs are supposed to grab “og:title” and “og:image” from the code. The problem I’m seeing now is that the Yoast plugin is no longer generating that specific code. I also tested this with the All-In-One SEO plugin, and the same thing happened. I found some plugins that claim to automatically generate the og: code, but it is impossible to control or configure.

    This is all a very new problem for us. I’m wondering if Yoast somehow stopped supporting that, or if this is functionality that has moved to the premium plugin. I would gladly get the premium plugin if it solved this specific problem.

    I put in a ticket with Webkit. We’ll see what that brings up.
