Hello, I use Yoast (Free Version) on several websites. I’ve noticed the past several updates have cause the settings to reset. For example I have Media, Downloads, etc set to “NoIndex”. I check after a Yoast update and they’ve changed back to ‘Index”. This really causes a problem with my clients and also is adding irrelevant links in Search Results.

Also, I’ve noticed that on one website, the Yoast version is 5.7.1 (This is the website I have the most issues with), but on another website the Yoast version is 9.1.
Why is there this huge discrepancy in versions?
    I keep plugins updated bi-weekly.

Updates should automatically appear in WordPress when available, so if one of the sites is using version 5.7.1 that is not the expected behavior. We would first recommend to try re-attempting the update. Can you please try the following steps to force an update?:
    ?

      Go to Plugins>Installed Plugins
      Select the ‘Yoast SEO’ plugin
Click on the ‘Bulk Actions’ drop down list and select ‘Update’
      Click ‘Apply’

?If the update still does not appear after attempting to force the update, you can also prompt WordPress to recheck for updates by navigating to Dashboard>Updates.

If after attempting the force update you are still unable to update the plugins, we would next recommend to try clearing your site’s cache. If you are not sure how to clear your server caching, please speak with your host provider. Does clearing your caching from your plugin, theme, server, browser, or CDN such as Cloudflare resolve the issue and allow you to successfully update the plugin?

If you are still unable to update the plugins after completing the aforementioned suggestions, you can also manually update the plugin. We have instructions on how to upgrade the plugin manually at the following link: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/#ftp. You will need an FTP program such as FileZilla and your FTP details, which can be obtained from your host provider.

After confirming that you are updated to the most current version (9.2.1) can you please check whether the issue with the settings being reset is resolved?
