Brand new installation Centos 7 64bit on a local server
Install WordPress 4.8.1
Install Yoast SEO plugin free version 5.4
Try to see XML sitemap and see page not found error
Refresh Settings/Permalinks without change the default values
Obtain XML parsing error (image attached).

Hi,

Something in your WordPress install, either a plugin or your theme, is outputting white space and it shouldn’t output white space. Please, refer to this document for more information about the issue:?Sitemap error: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/xml-sitemap-error/

To resolve the issue we ask for a conflict check as sometimes strange behavior may be caused by a plugin or theme conflict. The fastest way to rule out conflicts is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like?Twenty Sixteen. If this resolves the issue, you have a conflict and should activate one plugin at a time until you locate the conflict. Finally, after all plugins are active, switch to your theme. This will narrow down the conflict to a specific plugin or a theme conflict.

Hi @adidragomir,

I saw again your message. Unfortunately, I can’t reproduce your issue. I’m guessing that you have wrong settings (related to WP installation). There are possible solutions:
1. Use Pretty permalink

  https://support.severalnines.com/hc/en-us/articles/212426163-Enable-AllowOverride-for-Apache
  
  Default settings in apache is AllowOverride None. Because it’s localhost, you can change to AllowOverride All. Also, it’s important to set pretty permalinks on WP dashboard:
2. Use “Almost Pretty” permalink
  General Settings
  Wordpress Address (URL) : https://localhost/wordpress/
  Site Address (URL) : https://localhost/wordpress/
  
  Permalinks
  Custom Structure: https://localhost/wordpress/index.php/%postname%
Both test cases work. You can’t mix something between.
