    Hi there guys
    I hope you are well.

I’ve noticed the backend of our site is really slow at the moment so I created a staging site and turned off all the plugins (apart from Woocommerce). Then one by one turned them on. The last plugin (yoast) I activated was the one slowing the site down.
So I turned them all off and just left yoast and woocommerce on and again the backend was running slow. I turned yoast off and just left woocommerce and all seemed fine.

I did recently update to the newest version (15.8) but thought this might be the issue so I back tracked using my backup and went back to version 15.7, no difference though.

Do you have any suggestions as its super slow with the plugin activated?

    Cheers
    Sy

We are sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with our plugin. Can you please confirm whether you’re running the latest version of WordPress and WooCommerce as well?

If you do, can you please confirm whether you have performed the SEO data optimization from the SEO → Tools page? In addition, please confirm how many products you have total on your website.

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi @mazedulislamkhan
    Thanks for your reply.
I have just done this and nothing has changed regarding speed increase. I decided to upgrade back to the newest version but again nothing has changed. Are there any other people reporting issues with the current round of updates (wordpress just updated, so did most other plugins in line with the wordpress update).
    Cheers

We are not aware of such an issue specific to the latest version of our plugin. So, we kindly ask you to please share the following information so that we can understand the issue better:

    • Can you please confirm whether you have performed the SEO data optimization from the SEO → Tools page?
    • In addition, please confirm how many products you have total on your website.
    • Are you running the latest version of WordPress?

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi @mazedulislamkhan
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

-Sorry yes I did the data optimization

-I have about 4800 products but the backend was not slow until I did the latest round of updates on Tuesday. I recently deleted 2000 out of stock products but this made little difference to the speed.

-Yes this was also updated on Tuesday.

Of course it could be woocommerce is the issue.

Thanks for clarifying everything. Can you please install the 3rd party Query Monitor plugin and check the relevant database query on the WooCommerce products overview page where you’re experiencing the slowness issue to see if that indicates any specific database queries for you. It will help us to identify what’s exactly causing the issue for you.

    Hi @mazedulislamkhan

Not sure what I’m looking for, there is a slow query that comes up but this shows up with or without your plugin activated. The only difference is once yoast is active the page load time goes from 5 seconds fully loaded, to 10 seconds fully loaded.

Here are 3 slow queries that just showed up after activated Yoast, does this make sense?

    CORE:
    SELECT DISTINCT meta_key
    FROM wpsl_2_postmeta
    WHERE meta_key NOT BETWEEN ‘_’
    AND ‘_z’
    HAVING meta_key NOT LIKE ‘\\_%’
    ORDER BY meta_key
    LIMIT 30

    YOAST:
    SELECT COUNT(*)
    FROM wpsl_2_posts
    WHERE ( ( post_type = ‘post’
    AND ( post_status = ‘publish’ ) ) )
    AND post_author = 1

    WOOCOMMERCE:
    SELECT COUNT( * )
    FROM wpsl_2_posts
    WHERE post_type = ‘shop_order’
    AND post_status = ‘wc-completed’

-I have deactivated all plugins except Yoast and Woocommerce. The issue persisted.

-I changed theme to storefront (as recommended by Woocommerce). The issue persisted.

-I turned off Yoast (leaving Woocommerce on). The page loaded ok.

-I turned Yoast back on. The issue persisted.

In all these instances I believe Yoast slowed the backend down and maybe the front.

Maybe there is incompatibility between the new woocommerce update and yoast, or maybe I’m missing something. Any thing you can suggest would be very helpful.

Thanks for your time, its really appreciated.

    Hi Sy,

Thanks for getting back to us with more information. We’re hoping to narrow this down.

Just to be clear, you’re seeing the increased load times and slow queries on the frontend when you visit product pages or does this problem only affect the admin pages like the product edit screen?

Trying to turn off features or integrations might help to identify the problem. If you go to SEO > General > Features or Integrations, does turning any of them off improve the page load times?

Can you check the browser’s dev tools to see if there are any errors under the Console or Network tabs?

Also, can you confirm that your server meets the plugin’s minimum requirements? You can often find these details by going to Tools > Site Health > Info in WordPress.

    Hello @priscillamc
Thanks for getting back to me.
I’m getting a dev to look into this deeper, so far they have fingered another plugin however that plugin is flagging the same issues as yours which now makes me think there is a deeper issue at play here but, to answer your questions:

-load times increase on back end (don’t believe I’m seeing it on the front end).

-I’ve turned everything off but it’s not until the plugin is disabled that it helps.

-There is a loopback error which I’m looking into.

-My server is fine and is well above min standards.

I’ll let you know what the dev finds out when they do a more detailed search for the issue (if its related to Yoast I want you guys to know, equally if it’s not then I also want you guys to know). Thanks for spending the time to answer and try and get this resolved.

Hello! On our new website we have the same problem with a slow backend, after Yoast SEO Premium Plugin activation. When the Yoast SEO Premium Plugin is disabled, it works better.

Without activated Yoast SEO Premium Plugin, the page load time it between 1 and 5 seconds. With activated plugin between 20 and 50 seconds. I think the problem is only the premium plugin or in combination with another plugin, not with the free version of Yoast Seo.

I can see with the Query Monitor an error:

    https://my.yoast.com/api/sited/current
cURL error 28: Resolving timed out after 5000 milliseconds
    WPSEO_MyYoast_Api_Request->dp_request()

    Server Informations:
    Webserver: Apache with Nginx
    SQL: 10.3.29-MariaDB
PHP: 7.4.18 and 8.0.5 (Problem exist with both versions)
    Wordpress: 5.7.2
Woocommerce: 5.3.0 (With one test product)
Plugins: Yoast Seo Premium 16.3 / Yoast SEO: Local 13.9 / Yoast SEO: WooCommerce 14.0 / WP Mail SMTP / WP Fastest Cache Premium / Germanized für WooCommerce – All plugins are on the latest version.

My website is a clean installation without any sites. Do yo have an idea, what the problem is?

    Best regards,
    Marco
