I’m looking at Yoast SEO analysis on my products pages. I’m a Storefront user.

Using Yoast SEO and trying to get green dots seems like impossible.

I’m getting red dot on not including your focus keyphrase in your introduction. I’ve tried to put in the keyphrase in the first sentence in my introduction but the red dot is still there.

I’m also getting red dot for not having outbound links. I do have related products on my product pages but it seems like they doesn’t count as outbound links. Do you have any example of what could be an outbound link on a product page.

Another red dot on Text length. It says my text is only 125 words. I have 69 words in my introduction and 125 words in my product description. Why doesn’t the words in the introduction being counted?

The last red dot is keyphrase in meta description. If I have my keyphrase in the meta title I use the keyphrase in pluralis in the meta description to avoid keyword stuffing. Yoast doesn’t recognice the pluralis of the keyphrase. IMO not good.

I solved the part with keyphrase in introduction. A sentence in a point list isn’t considered a sentence.

Why Yoast gives “penalty” for not having outbound links is strange. It won’t help you if you have outbound links.

It’s very obvious Yoast isn’t any judge on SEO, it just gives some hints.

My only question still remaining is why doesn’t the words in the introduction being counted?

    Hello @boppar,

    Thanks for reaching out.

By default, our plugin does not analyze content that is outside of the main content box of a page or post. Our page analysis was unable to locate the keyword at the beginning of your content. In some cases, the HTML code for images, styles, iframe, videos may interfere with our page analysis’ ability to identify the first paragraph. We are aware of the issue and are working on a solution. Please, refer to this KB article for more information: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/warning-focus-keyword-not-in-first-paragraph/.

Can you please confirm if you are using some page builder for adding your contents? This error can also happen sometimes when using visual page builders since they can insert additional elements before the first paragraph that are not visible.

However, we can assure you this issue, doesn’t affect you indexing nor your ranking. So, if you insert correctly your Keyphrase, but our plugin isn’t able to verify it for one of the above reason, you can ignore this warning.

    Thanks.

    Hi @maybellyne

I use Elementor. I guess Yoast works with Elementor which is the most popular page builder.

    Another question you might answer:
When hovering an image no box with the Title appears. In media library I have set Alt text and Title to all images. The “title=” appears when viewing the page source.

Any idéa what’s causing the problem?

Another problems with Yoast SEO analysis: Images used as backgrounds i Elementor sectors, Yoast doesn’t count them as images.

@maybellyne or other plugin staff. Do you mind trying to help out. Thanks.

    Hi,

You identified several issues. We have responded to them below.

    A. When hovering an image no box with the Title appears. In media library I have set Alt text and Title to all images. The “title=” appears when viewing the page source.
We are not sure what the issue is. Are you saying that the title you set for the image fails to appear in the source code?

If so, that is expected to be a non Yoast issue as the theme controls the title getting outputted into the source code.

    B. Another problems with Yoast SEO analysis: Images used as backgrounds i Elementor sectors, Yoast doesn’t count them as images.
This is expected behavior. We do not count background images as it is not considered to be part of the content. We had a feature request to add support for this kind of image but we closed it. See: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/1738

    Hi @pcosta88

    A. I meant when hovering with the mouse ?ver an image no box with the Title appears. Even though in media library I have set Alt text and Title to all images. The title appears however in the source code.
As you said it’s propably not a Yoast issue.

    B.
    OK, now I know.

@boppar When you say that when you hover over an image the title appears, where are you viewing the image when you hover over it? Do you mean on the live web page, or is this occurring somewhere in the wp-admin area?

    @devnihil
I didn’t say that the title appears, on the contrary.
As I’ve set a title for the imag a box with a title is supposed to appear (on live web page) when I hover with the mouse over the image.

I manually coded an image like so:

    <img src="IMAGE_LINK" title="Title" alt="ALT" />

With a default theme and no plugins, the little box appeared both in the block editor and on the front end of our test site. Enabling Yoast SEO did not prevent the little box from appearing.

This means that either the title tag is not correctly output or something else is interfering with it.

If you temporarily disable Yoast SEO on your site, does the box appear? If the box doesn’t appear with Yoast SEO inactive, you can be confident that it’s not our plugin.

I tried inactivating Yoast, it didn’t solve the problem.

If disabling Yoast SEO didn’t fix the issue for you, this means it is an issue specific to something else instead of Yoast SEO. Therefore, we are not sure how exactly you can fix the issue.
