WHen checking the sitemaps of our shop with the Google search console we get the following peculiar problem:

The Google search console shows an indexing error because some pages like

    https://our-woocommerce-shop.com/checkout
    https://our-woocommerce-shop.com/my-account

are correctly tagged as “noindex, nofollow” by Woocommerce.

But the sitemaps created by Yoast still list these pages and so Google tries to reindex them which results in failure.

    How can this be resolved?

    Thx for helping!

    Hello,

Thanks for reaching out regarding this.

So we visited both pages, https://ogaenics.com/de/my-account/ and https://ogaenics.com/de/warenkorb/ We can confirm that something weird is happening with the index tags:

    <meta name='robots' content='index, noindex, follow' />

There is a noindex tag and an index tag at the same time. We suspect this might be a plugin conflict. Can you confirm if you have another plugin that manages indexation on your site?

    Hmmm, thx for your help!

No, I do not have any other plugin that manages indexation as far as I know…
I will go through all the plugins on a stage site…

If you don’t mind and give me some time I’ll come back to you…

    Best regadrds,

The default setting in the Yoast options on these pages turned out to be “index pasge”. After I’ve set it to “don’t index” the conflicting entries in the robots tags dissappeared.

It seems that Woocommerce sets these pages to “noindex” but Yoast using one default settings for all pages which is “index page”…

Maybe it would be an improvement to make Yoast default to the preset settings that are already present in the tags?

Any way I hope this solved it – now only Google has to realize the change as well… we’ll see…

    Thx for your patience!

    With best regards,
    j.
