I just noticed today that the Yoast SEO plugin is not in the plugins list on this site, and not functioning on the site itself.

I tried deleting the wordpress-seo folder in wp-content and re-installing using FTP and a fresh, unzipped copy of Yoast SEO, but after re-install, it is still not in the list of installed plugins. I tried again after deactivating all other plugins, but that didn’t work either.

Installing from Add New in Plugins doesn’t work; says the folder already exists even though I deleted it.

I have not renamed the wp-content or plugins folder.

I am using version 17.0; also tried reinstalling version 16.9 and 16.8, to no avail.

Thank you, in advance, for your help.

We’re sorry you’re having trouble with installing the Yoast SEO on your website. I imagine this can be frustrating for you. We’d like to look a closer look.

So you tried both approach FTP and WP admin to install the plugin but ways didn’t show the plugin in the list of installed plugins. This could be sometimes due to cache in your server.

Please clear all your caching from your theme, plugin, server, CDN like CloudFlare or browser. If you are not sure how to clear caching from theme/plugin please speak to those authors. If you want to clear cache from the server, please speak to your host provider. To clear the cache from a browser use this guide: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-clear-my-browsers-cache/.

To confirm further, try to install any other plugin from the WordPress Plugins directory and see if the same something happens. In that case, it’s likely a cache issue or speak to your host provider for further assistance.

Thank you for this. I was indeed able to install other plugins, however, when I asked a colleague to fix the issue for me on another computer, it worked. So it seems to be a cache issue on my computer.

    Thanks so much.
