  • Not sure if we’re experiencing the same thing, but just this morning we noticed that our meta for the home page (which is manually entered on the page itself) has now changed from what we had entered to a random snippet from one of the categories?!?!

Should be “Natural beauty that doesn’t have to cost the earth …..” and currently reading “The following shampoo bars from TillyOak contain Argan Oil …”

    What gives?
    Cheers
    Marko

    Hi @seoliving

We’re trying to check on https://www.officialsave.com/store/vigorelle/ and we see that the <title> tag is showing as:

    <title>Vigorelle Coupon Code (November 2021) - 60% OFF Discount Codes</title>

When doing a site: search for the same URL, we do see that Google is showing the title as:

Vigorelle Coupons & Discount Codes | November 2021

Was this the previous title and did you just recently change it? Otherwise, while you can control the <title> output, it will still be up to Google as to the final result and what would output in the search results – https://yoast.com/help/my-seo-title-isnt-displayed-as-i-have-entered-it/

    Hi @seoliving

Upon checking https://www.officialsave.com/store/vigorelle/ again, it looks like the H1 heading of this is:

Vigorelle Coupons & Discount Codes | November 2021

which is what is appearing in the search results. We do know that Google made an update last August and September regarding how it would display titles in the search results. You can learn more about it here – https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2021/08/update-to-generating-page-titles & https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2021/09/more-info-about-titles

Possibly changing the H1 title would help change the output as to how it would appear in the search results, but it would still be up to Google.

    Hi @seoliving

As per Google’s article, it still uses the <title> element around 87% of the time, so it should still be useful to define that title tag.

The Yoast SEO plugin helps define the titles and meta description tags for your posts and pages, but it’ll still ultimately be up to Google to decide what to output in the search results (based on several factors). Even though it’s not a 100% guarantee that Google and the search engines will use it, it’s still good to define it. We recommend checking out this article on how to craft great page titles in order to further optimize your site – https://yoast.com/page-titles-seo/

We wish you the best of luck in further optimizing your site!
