I see options for XML Sitemap, but am wondering if there is a shortcode, or option to add an HTML Sitemap that hooks into Yoasts enable/disable post types like the XML Sitemap that comes with Yoast does? This almost seems like this should be provided with the Yoast Plugin automatically as an option, yet, there is only an XML sitemap option. Yes, I know there are tons of plugins out there that provide HTML Sitemaps, but it would be delightful to not have to configure both Yoast SEO and a separate HTML Sitemap plugin each time I wanna install a plugin that might add a post type that needs to be blocked in the XML Sitemap. It just seems like I would continously be having to edit both HTML and XML sitemaps individually all of the time a simple change needs to take place for SEO.

Anyways, long story short, is there an HTML Sitemap plugin/shortcode/snippet of some sort out there that ties into Yoast SEO XML Sitemap output so they are both synced?

    Hi @sclosson,

Yoast SEO does not generate the HTML sitemap and has its own sitemap. However, if you need to add additional URLs to the sitemap, you can also add an external sitemap to the sitemap generated by Yoast by using the guide here: https://yoast.com/help/add-external-sitemap-to-index/

Our plugin creates sitemaps on the fly for the content within WordPress. In some cases, you may have sitemaps for other parts of your site that you want to add to our sitemap index. For this purpose, we introduced the wpseo_sitemap_index filter. You will find an example of how to use the wpseo_sitemap_index filter to add an external sitemap to the Yoast sitemap here:

    We hope this helps!

I don’t think you understand what I’m asking here. I would like to add an HTML Sitemap to my site that utilizes Yoast SEO Content Types (you know how you disable/enable them in the backend?). I would like to have an HTML version of the Yoast XML Sitemap, but HTML Instead! How is this possible and why isn’t this an option? Is there a plugin that will tie into Yoast SEO XML Sitemap and generate an HTML version of it somewhere out there?

    Thanks

We are sorry for the confusion. We understand you want to have an HTML sitemap on your sitemap based on the XML sitemap generated by Yoast SEO.

We are afraid to say that there are no options, nor any hooks or filters available in the Yoast SEO plugin to have the HTML sitemap based on the XML sitemap.

So, if you really want to have the HTML sitemap on your site, you’ll need to find an alternative solution/plugin for that.

@sclosson We apologize for the confusion. Unfortunately the Yoast SEO plugin does not include a feature to create an HTML sitemap. However, if you are wanting to create an HTML sitemap for your site we do have a guide on how to at the following link: https://yoast.com/html-sitemap-wordpress/

Ok, thanks for the information. Was hoping for an HTML version of the XML Sitemap, but I suppose this isn’t possible yet.
