Yoast SEO Google Verification code not working

Looking for some help. When i enter the verification code in the Google Webmaster tool is come up with the following error

google-site-verification: google53f9171c03b6da73.html does not seem to be a valid Google Webmaster tools verification string. Please correct.

Can someone please assist that would be greatly appreciated
