I came from Yoast Premium to SEO Framework.

I originally used the seo data importer and took the Yoast content into SEO Framework.

I now realise SEO Framework is much better & I don’t need my old Yoast stuff (its bloating!).

How can I delete the Yoast content which was put into the SEO Framework?, or if I delete the SEO Framework, which tables do I need to delete from the DB in order to start with a fresh install of the SEO Framework (without the transferred Yoast content?)

    Thanks

    Hello ??

Inert data shouldn’t affect the performance of your site (notably). Nevertheless, you can clean up the database, as per Yoast’s documentation: https://yoast.com/help/how-can-i-uninstall-my-plugin/#database.

Do make a backup of your database before proceeding! For example, accidentally exchanging an apostrophe for a backtick could cause irreversible data loss. Watch Tom Scott’s “Onosecond” video on YouTube for a great real-world example.

Now, deleting The SEO Framework’s data from the database is not straightforward. I wrote a blog about it, but since it’s outdated, I’m going to redirect it to a new KB article today. I might even release a plugin that does this for you in a click.

I’ll comment below when the article is released. Cheers!

    Hello ??

The post is up, but none of the snippets I published have been tested:

The disclaimer (make a backup!) is there for a good reason ?? I’ll revise the article with added information and improved snippets soon, and fix up the markup–it’s all over the place!

I found the issue in _genesis_title

I’ve deleted the only ones with issues and left all the rest of the tables the same

Will this effect the site, or does _genesis_title link with anything else?

    Thanks

    Hello again ??

The _genesis_title entry is read by the Genesis theme and The SEO Framework–TSF was originally meant to extend Genesis only. When neither the theme or plugin is active, that entry is inert and doesn’t affect your site.
