Yoast SEO "ERROR in Sitemap"

    Hi All,

    I have used Yoast SEO and tried submit a site map in Google webmaster tools and will provide me this “Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead”

    How can I fix it? By the way, I dont have any coding skills. Hope you all can help me resolve this.

  • The sitemap should be in XML format.

    The YOAST has sitemap generator. You can use this feature to generate your site’s sitemap. However, I see a little issue with this feature.

    You can resolve it by following steps :

    Please go XML sitemaps, uncheck the “Check this box to enable XML sitemap functionality”. Click save changes.

    Now, check the “Check this box to enable XML sitemap functionality”, save. Press “XML Sitemap” button.

    You will be brought to your sitemap URL. If it isn’t error page, you can use this url to submit to Google webmaster tool.

    Thanks for your response. I have tried your instructions and Its still an error every time I submit my sitemap URL to Google webmaster tool “Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead”

    What should I do?

    Maybe, the problem lies on your cache plugin.

    Please clear your cache. After several minutes, you can resubmit your sitemap to GWT. It takes some time for google to response the correction.
