• Hello,

My question is regards to SEO on my edit media section.

When I write a post I fill out the SEO Yoast parts (Keyword, Meta description and etc.). Then I upload a picture and I click on edit button and I fill out the alternative text and Image Title Attribute.

But, I’m a bit confused as to whether I should be filling out the edit media section and the Yoast SEO section, plus should I be using the same information in both parts? Are there any parts that don’t get counted? Is it going to increase my SEO rank if I fill out the edit media section? Or it doesn’t really matter?

    Thanks

I don’t know if my question was clear. Maybe that’s why I didn’t have any answer.

So, I will ask it again, but in a different way.

Question: When I go to “Edit Media” I see the tag and description areas I see the box at the bottom that says “SEO by Yoast…” with Title, Meta Description, etc. Should I fill those out too, for each image in order to increase my SEO rank?

It won’t hurt to do it… But it is probably better to SEO your images before uploading.

Doing things like making sure the image file name is optimized for SEO -> image_34691.jpg(not good) -> dog-brown-labrador-pet.jpg(much better). Filling out alt tag, title, and description when uploaded to your WordPress media library will do basically the same thing as those settings in Yoast… Which may be better in the long run. If one day you stop using SEO by Yoast, what happens to all that meta created by Yoast??
