I’ve done just about everything, but I have no idea how to permanently fix Yoast SEO on my site. I have deleted every plugin multiple times, which has never solved the issue. I downloaded the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin, and I haven’t found success there either when following those steps.

It’s the only plugin that doesn’t work and seems to be the most important. It randomly returns every few weeks and during that time, I go back in to quickly adjust the SEO on as many pages and posts as I can because I know it will stop working within a few minutes.

For more information of what I see on my end. Under the post shows something like this:

    SEO | READABILITY | SCHEMA | SOCIAL

And then there is nothing below it, so I can’t fill in the focus keyword or meta description or anything Yoast SEO offers.

I’d love to know a way for this to never be a problem again because it can be extremely frustrating.

    Hi @erikbuchinger

We’re sorry to hear that you’ve had lots of trouble using the Yoast SEO plugin on your website. You’ve mentioned that you’ve tried the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin to no success.

Based on your description of the issue, it looks to be that the fields in the Yoast SEO Meta box don’t fully load as expected when you’re editing a post or page, is this correct?

When editing a post or page where this issue occurs, could you open your browser’s console and take note of any JavaScript errors (in red) and take a screenshot and share a link here? You can use a site such as snipboard.io to upload a screenshot and share a link. This information will be helpful in troubleshooting further, as it’ll help rule out if it’s a plugin or theme conflict, or if it’s something else entirely.

Is there any further instruction you could give me to fix this problem? I still don’t have the ability to add SEO items to my posts.

    Hi @erikbuchinger

Thanks for providing that screenshot. Based on the error message, this isn’t due to a plugin or theme conflict that is causing the blank Yoast SEO meta box.

The JavaScript error (shown below) occurs when a CDN or WAF (Web Application Firewalls) modifies the JavaScript code required to display the Yoast SEO meta box. This report provides more context about the problem.

Uncaught SyntaxError: Invalid regular expression: /^*-+:*$/: Nothing to repeat

As the code manipulation happens between your server and the browser, we cannot fix the issue for you. Your web host, CDN, or WAF provider can help you disable the features (if?possible, selectively for our plugin) that changes JavaScript files. We expect the meta box to load after the original files are available.

We hope this points you in the right direction!
