Last week, I updated my Yoast SEO plugin and could no longer access the SEO fields on my blog posts. Today I updated to 14.1, and the same issue is still occurring. I’ve indexed my site.

I see buttons for SEO READIBILITY and SOCIAL, beneath the text of each blog post, but when I click the buttons nothing happens.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi @newmanbooks2015,

We’re really sorry to hear that the latest updates aren’t working for you. If you’re not seeing an issue related to indexing your site or the databases, there may be a compatibility issue.

To see if this is a conflict with your theme or another plugin on your site, we recommend doing a conflict check. You can find more details about troubleshooting conflicts here: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/.

Let us know if you find an issue.

    Hi Priscilla-
Thank you for your reply. I downloaded the Health Check & Troubleshooting plug-in as requested and entered Troubleshooting mode.

With all plug-ins disabled, I navigated to my blog post and could not see any of the Yoast SEO buttons.

Within Troubleshooting mode, I re-enabled only the Yoast SEO plug-in and the SEO rating and appropriate boxes to add a keyword, etc. appeared. I can send a screenshot if you need it.

So I guess, according to Health Check, “If the issue occurs when Yoast SEO is the only active plug-in, the issue is caused by our plug-in.”

Additionally, I’ve been using Yoast SEO quite successfully for some time now. This only became an issue with the update prior to the 14.1 update.

    What’s the next step?

    Thank you for your help!

Hi! Same problem here, I see the buttons of Yoast SEO under the editor but nothing is responding.

I’ve used the recommended health check and I get the following: “An error occurred while checking whether your site can be found by search engines”

Ryte offers a free indexability check for Yoast SEO users. The request to Ryte to check whether your site can be found by search engines failed due to an error.

Error details: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 5000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received (http_request_failed)

    Hi @jrstudio7,

The Ryte cURL issue is a different issue, can you please open up a new topic please?

    Hi @newmanbooks2015,

Thank you for troubleshooting. So if we understand correctly, everything showed up when Yoast SEO is the only plugin active in the troubleshooting mode? Correct? If so, you can then switch back to your own (child)theme you use on the site and check again if it remains working. If so, you can then enable 1 plugin at a time and checking when the issues reappear again. When they do, you know what plugin is causing compatibility issues.

Apart from the conflict, can you also confirm your site meets the plugin requirements and that WordPress itself, including all themes and plugins are at their current versions?

Yoast SEO not functioning for me too with new version. Pages I had previously optimised are functioning fine. For new pages/posts the SEO and readability analysis does not show up any results. It allows me to enter the “Focus keyphrase, and there it appears to process (green circular animation next to SEO & readability tabs) but does not settle to show the usual green/orange/red dots. If I edit the google preview snippet and then update the post, the details entered are lost.

After deactivating all the plugins in troubleshoot mode, I activated the Yoast SEO plugin, I see the same issue. So I am ruling out plugin conflict. My wordpress version and yoast plugin are both current versions.
