Yoast plugin not working

I have used the yoast plugin for all my websites in the past and it worked great. I am now buildling another entirely new website and the plugin is still not working. When I tried “processing my content” but keep getting an error saying “something went wrong while optimizing the SEO data of your site, please try again later.” There is also no meta box and the configuration wizard is not working. All the features boxes are set to “on” so I am clueless as to what could be the issue.
