I have used Yoast for years but suddenly it does not work. I have two sites that I just built but it doesn’t work on either of them. Clicking on a page to edit I cannot see the Yoast features and when adding text to a page it cannot be saved. I am using:

    Yoast Version: 16.1.1
    WordPress Version 5.7.1
    PHP 7.3

Yoast works on other sites with wordpress 5.6.
    How can I fix this?
    thanks Dan

    Hi,

When you say you cannot see the Yoast features, do you mean that the Yoast SEO meta box doesn’t appear when editing a specific post or page? Or are you unable to locate the SEO menu in the sidebar? Would it be possible for you to provide us with a screenshot of the issue you are facing?

Can you please confirm that the SEO settings is enabled for the posts or pages? You can check this by going to your WordPress dashboard, and then going to SEO (sidebar) > Search Appearance > Content Types and seeing that the option for “Show SEO settings” is set to “show”?

    Same thing happening to me.

    Here’s a screenshot.

    Hi,

Based on your screenshot, that appears to be a blank or partially loaded Yoast SEO meta box.

A?blank meta box?issue occurs due to a JavaScript conflict. So?we’d like you to please perform a conflict check. This will help us narrow down the exact cause and determine what the next steps are while saving you time.

Just to be sure, we would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

Hello, I deactivate all the plugins and still happening. It doesn’t seem to be the plugins. It happened after the previous WordPress update.

I have also done extensive testing turning off plugins, etc. but the problem still exists.

By comparison, here is a screenshot from another site, same server, same PHP, same wordpress, 5.7.1, where yoast works. I have had the missing meta box issue on the last two sites I built.

@dan426 Thanks for the illustrative screenshots. We are unable to reproduce the issue with Yoast SEO 16.1.1 and WordPress 5.7.1.

Are you able to access the Yoast SEO features if you switch to a default theme such as Twenty-Twenty or Twenty-Nineteen?

I switched to twenty-twenty with all other plugins turned off. The issue still is there. This issue occurs on the last two sites I built.

After some experimenting I installed WP 5.7.1 on a fresh install. I got a blank page when trying to edit a page or add a new page with no plugins installed, default theme. I deleted it and installed it again, same result. Looking back through other sites I have built, I uploaded WP 5.5.4, it worked fine but I was not able to add Yoast SEO, not comparable wit that version, so I clicked the upgrade link and updated to 5.7.1, now it works, added Yoast and a new theme, everything works now. Why did WP 5.7.1 not work when initially installed but now works when upgrading from 5.5.4? This is very strange.

Can I try the same for my issue? It seems to be similar.

Following the procedure of my last post I deleted irise.today completely and installed WP 5.5.1 and it worked fine but I was not able to install yoast (same as above). I updated it to WP 5.7.1, installed yoast and everything was good. I then installed all the plugins I needed to use, checking after each install and everything was still good. The install is fine now but why did I need to install 5.5.1 first, then update it to 5.7.1 to get yoast to work? Is 5.7.1 missing something that is found in 5.5.1?

@dan426 That certainly is strange. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to replicate this issue with a clean install of 5.7.1, so it’s likely that the issue is something caused by your specific environment. Can you please check and confirm whether your environment meets all of the plugin requirements listed here: https://yoast.com/help/plugin-requirements/

What should I try then? I have try to deactivate all the plugins and it’s not working.

@antoniojrc Aside from deactivating all other plugins, can you please confirm if the same issue happens when you switch to the default WP theme (Twenty Twenty-one) as well?

Hello @jerparx, Yes, it is still happening when I switch to that theme. Even if I create a new page from scratch. It’s happening in Pages, Portfolios, etc. So weird I can’t find the problem.
