  • We apologize for the trouble you are experiencing with our plugin. This issue was resolved in a recent version. Please update to the current version, Yoast SEO for WordPress 5.4.2 by following the steps here: How can I update my plugin?

I had updated to Yoast SEO for WordPress 5.4.2 prior to writing this post.
I even uninstalled the latest version and reinstalled and reconfigured it.
Yoast SEO is still not counting links since that update.
Popup window comes up, but does not count links – it sits there and does nothing.
Still has a reminder to count links.

    Hi,

Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast SEO v5.5.1??

If so, and the issue still happens that sounds like a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:

    1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.

?2. Check for conflicts using this guide: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts?

    3. Check for JavaScript errors with your console with this guide: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-find-javascript-errors-with-your-browsers-console

If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/ for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium here: https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/ and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

    1. latest version
    2. no conflicts
    3. no javascript errors
    4. not paying $90.00 to fix an aspect of your plugin that was working fine, yet surfaced with the last update.

@neotechnomad We understand if you wouldn’t want to purchase the Yoast SEO Premium and that’s fine. The premium plugin gives you access to our premium support where our support engineers can investigate this further on your site.

Since this is an issue specific to your site and are unable to investigate this issue further here without taking a look at the setup, maybe someone watching these forums can assist you further, but if your topic is inactive for 7 days, we’ll mark it as resolved to keep the overview.

I have the same issue with my site. Not counting at all.
    And also:
    1. latest version
    2. no conflicts
    3. no javascript errors

    Hi @ejanszen,

If the tool is unable to count text links when it is the only plugin active and your theme is 2016, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. We ask that you please purchase Yoast SEO Premium here: https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/. This way you will receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.
