Hey Guys,

For some reason it wont let me change my meta description. I change it in the page but when i exit the page it has not actually changed. It updates normally and if i exit and re enter the page the meta description still shows that it is updated but is not really.
I have tried disabling all the plugins and change to default wordpress theme to see if something was causing the problem (didnt work).
I will link some photos below:

@fadedfamous `We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

Can you please confirm you are using the most recent version of Yoast SEO, version 15.9? You can learn more about updating here: https://yoast.com/help/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/

Also, can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.6? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/

If you update to the most current version of WordPress and Yoast SEO, does this resolve the issue?

If after ensuring that both WordPress, Yoast SEO, and your other plugins and themes are up to date the issue is still occurring, we’d next recommend performing a conflicting check to see whether another plugin or theme is interfering with the Yoast SEO Plugin. This will help us narrow down the exact cause and determine what the next steps are while saving you time.

The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.`

Hey Devnihil,

Thank you for the reply.
Everything is up to to date, both yoast and wordpress.
I have tried to deactivate all plugins and switch to the default wordpress theme but i am still having the problem.
Is there any reason for me to do the health check if even with all plugins disabled i still have the problem?

You won’t need to perform the conflict check using the Health Check plugin if you have already disabled all the non-Yoast plugins and switched to the default 2021 theme.

That said, this issue seems specific to the Yoast SEO Indexables tables and migrations. To clear the cache, you’ll need to reset the Yoast SEO Indexables tables and migrations by following the steps given below:

• Install and activate Yoast Test Helper plugin;
• Go to Tools → Yoast Test → Yoast SEO → Reset indexables tables & migrations options to reset it;
• Run SEO data optimization from the SEO → Tools page.

Let us know whether the issue persists after performing the above steps.

The problem is solved!!
Thank you so much for the help i was starting to stress, you’re a lifesaver.
Is it okay for me to leave the Yoast test helper plugin incase of future issues or should i uninstall it?

Thanks again!

Hi,

We’re glad to hear the issue has been resolved! You are certainly free to keep the Yoast Test Helper plugin installed on your website. It’s primarily used for troubleshooting and other development features, but it shouldn’t affect the use of the main Yoast SEO plugin in any way.
