Hi! Hoping someone can help with this.

    1. I have the latest WP version and Yoast version.
    2. I have tried deactivating and reactivating and deleting and reinstalling the plugin.

The following features are missing from my WP admin:
    – The Yoast overview (or option to add it) on the dashboard
    – Yoast results in the posts list (the column with the two dots)
    – The ability to enter a keyword phrase in post edit
    – The dropdown with results (which makes sense if you can’t enter a keyword)

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide! ??

    -John

@jbhphx We’re sorry to hear you’re experiencing these problems with the plugin. We’ve identified several concerns in your post and responded to each individually below:

The following features are missing from my WP admin:
    – The Yoast overview (or option to add it) on the dashboard

We would first recommend checking to make sure it is enabled by performing the following steps:

? In WordPress, go to the Dashboard
? Click the “Screen Options” in the upper right
? Make sure the “Yoast SEO Posts Overview” option is checked (see image here)

    – Yoast results in the posts list (the column with the two dots)

If any column is not appearing in the posts overview, it should be able to be enabled in the Screen Options dialog by performing the following steps:

? In WordPress, go to Posts>All Posts
? Click on the “Screen Options” in the upper right
? Check the options for the columns you want to appear

    – The ability to enter a keyword phrase in post edit
    – The dropdown with results (which makes sense if you can’t enter a keyword)

We would first recommend checking the following settings to confirm that they are set correctly:

? Can you confirm you have the right user permissions? You can check by going to Users->Your Profile->Yoast SEO settings (may need to scroll down) and confirm that both “Disable SEO analysis” and “Disable readability analysis” are unclicked?
? Can you confirm that the SEO, Readability, and Insights are all enabled by going to SEO->General->Features and checking that SEO Analysis, Readability Analysis, and Insights are all set to ‘On’?
? Can you confirm that the SEO settings are enabled on the posts? You can check by going to SEO->Search Appearance->Content Types and confirming that “Show SEO settings” is set to “Yes” for the respective content type (pages, posts, etc)?
? Can you confirm that if you go to the post/page and click on Screen Options (in the top right) that all the right options are enabled? You can do so for the block editor by performing the following actions:
?In WordPress, go to the edit screen where the meta box is missing.
Click on the ‘More tools and Options’ three dot icon.
Click on ‘Options’ at the bottom.
Under ‘Advanced Panels’, toggle the ‘Yoast SEO’ checkbox.
To show the panel, check the ‘Yoast SEO’ box.

We also have a guide on enabling this at the following link: https://yoast.com/help/yoastseo-meta-box-missing/. Additionally, these articles should also help serve as a guide for some of the settings: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-enable-disable-the-keyword-analysis/ and https://yoast.com/help/enable-disable-content-readability-analysis/

Thanks for a quick response Carl.

While I’m not an expert, I consider myself an advanced WP user having used it for over 10 years. So, I have already gone through all the steps you mentioned. I wouldn’t have wasted your time with a question that was that simple. ??

    1. In screen options: Yoast overview is not an option anymore.
    2. In the posts list screen options, Yoast is not an option.
    3. Everything in the individual post edit screen and in the Yoast settings is turned on, as you have suggested.

Everything worked great and was functional as of last Thursday or so. No settings have been changed since then, but they have been verified as set correctly.

Here’s a quick screencast showing what’s going on:

    Hey @jbhphx

Thanks for that very detailed video! It looks like you’ve checked most of the possible options and that everything seems to be set up correctly.

However, could you please go to your WP admin dashboard > Users (sidebar) > Profile and then scroll down to the Yoast SEO settings and make sure that the ‘disable SEO analysis’ and ‘disable readability analysis’ are unticked as well? If not, please do untick, and then save the changes. All of the SEO and Readability settings should then load accordingly!

Oh wow. I didn’t even know that was an option. No idea how it got changed. Thank you so much. All better now. ??

    Cheers!
